O Governo do Estado do Ceará confirmou a morte e decretou luto oficial de três dias.
“Recebi com profundo pesar a notícia da morte do cantor e compositor cearense Belchior. O povo cearense enaltece sua história, agradece imensamente por tudo que fez e pelo legado que deixa para a arte do nosso Ceará e do Brasil”, disse em nota o governador Camilo Santana.
