A Campanha de Vacinação contra a Poliomielite em Petrolina foi estendida até o próximo dia 20 de dezembro, por decisão da prefeitura. No município, até o momento 91,2% das crianças pertencentes ao público-alvo (com idades entre um ano e quatro anos, 11 meses e 29 dias), foram imunizadas contra a doença, que também é conhecida por paralisia infantil.
O governo estadual prorrogou a campanha por duas vezes, e encerrou o prazo no dia 30 de novembro, mas o município preferiu continuar com as estratégias para alcançar a meta preconizada pelo Ministério da Saúde – de 95%. Foram aplicadas 20.254 doses.
