O evento discutiu como a inteligência artificial pode impactar o jornalismo de agora em diante.
A opção da Folha de S.Paulo de deixar de publicar seu conteúdo no Facebook foi um dos assuntos do congresso. O editor-executivo do jornal, Sérgio Dávila, comentou as razões que levaram à saída da rede social, efetivada em 8 de fevereiro de 2018.
A decisão da Folha de S.Paulo, maior jornal brasileiro no Facebook, com quase 6 milhões de seguidores, repercutiu em todo o mundo. As críticas ao tratamento dado pela rede social ao jornalismo profissional seguem com interesse crescente entre os editores.
O debate do qual participou Dávila terá ainda Grzegorz Piechota, pesquisador da Harvard Business School e da Universidade de Oxford University, e Claudia Gurfinkel, responsável por parcerias de notícias do Facebook na América Latina.
A mediação foi feita por Francisco Pedro Balsemão, CEO do grupo português Impresa. Um dos pontos do encontro mundial de editores é a sustentabilidade nos modelos de negócio no jornalismo. Estratégias sobre pagamento de conteúdo serão debatidas pela vice-presidente do Washington Post, Miki Toliver King, e Sophie Gourmelen, publisher do Le Parisien.
No domínio do jornalismo impresso, o congresso analisou as recentes mudanças no design de grandes veículos, como The Guardian, e ainda discutiu a sustentabilidade e a adaptação do modelo de publicidade dos jornais de todo o mundo.
Debates sobre liberdade de expressão, futuro do jornalismo e impacto das novas tecnologia completaram a programação dos três dias do evento.
O posicionamento digital do jornalismo brasileiro frente à crise foi o tema de um painel, com a participação de Guilherme Cunha Pereira, CEO da Gazeta do Povo, do Paraná, e de Alan Gripp, editor-chefe de O Globo.
Andiara Petterle, vice-presidente de produtos e operações da RBS, e Isabel Amorim Sicherle, Diretora comercial da editora Abril, também falaram no encontro.
