Os moradores do bairro João de Deus, viram durante sete anos, através de buracos em tapumes, a tão sonhada praça do bairro, ser construída lentamente, e no seu entorno vários comércios prejudicados e outros falindo por contado descaso do governo estadual em não concluir a obra. O dia 26 de agosto de 2017, realmente marcará a vida dos moradores do bairro. Com grande festa, e depois de 7 anos , o bairro recebeu a “nova praça” ( que tem cheiro de equipamento velho) com alegria, pois agora, o bairro volta a ser como era. Interligado.
Diversas autoridades prestigiaram a entrega da Praça da Juventude, entre elas o governador de Pernambuco, Paulo Câmara (PSB), o prefeito de Petrolina Miguel Coelho (PSB), deputado estadual Lucas Ramos (PSB), o deputado federal Guilherme Coelho (PSDB), o ex-deputado Geraldo Coelho, o secretário de planejamento Márcio Stefanni, vereadores e o deputado federal Gonzaga Patriota (PSB), autor da emenda parlamentar que deu o pontapé inicial para a construção do equipamento.
“A entrega demorou, mas estamos entregando um equipamento bem feito que vai servir para a comunidade do João de Deus, para práticas esportivas, para cidadania e com certeza vai ser um ponto de encontro para os jovens e para as famílias. Queremos implantar equipamentos como este em todo o estado”, tentou se desculpar, Paulo Câmara, governador de Pernambuco, pelo atraso de 7 anos.
O novo equipamento conta salas multiuso, quadra poliesportiva, pista de caminhada, área verde, quadras de futebol society e vôlei de praia, vestiários, anfiteatro, pátio de eventos, pista de skate, playground e academia da saúde.
