A Câmara de Vereadores de Petrolina – Casa Plínio Amorim vai votar nesta quinta-feira (31), às 9h30, a lei que institui a data de 5 de setembro como o Dia Municipal do Livro, da Leitura e Literatura de Petrolina. A iniciativa de promulgação dessa lei é do Colegiado de Letras da UPE – Universidade de Pernambuco em homenagem ao escritor petrolinense Antonio de Santana Padilha, autor de, entre outras obras, do romance épico ‘Pedro e Lina’ e a cronologia histórica e cultural ‘Petrolina no tempo, no espaço, na vez’.
A ideia da criação da data, segundo o professor Genivaldo Nascimento, surgiu durante a realização do Clisertão – Congresso Internacional do Livro, Leitura e Literatura no Sertão, realizado em Petrolina no período de 9 a 12 de maio último. “Convidamos a todos, especialmente escritores, professores, estudantes e gestores culturais para a votação desse importante projeto. Mais uma ação em defesa da leitura e da formação do pensamento crítico das nossas novas gerações”, concluiu o escritor lembrando ainda que foi no dia 5 de setembro de 1904 que nascia em Petrolina Antonio Padilha.
