A Conferência Nacional dos Bispos do Brasil (CNBB) já tem um nome de sua preferência para o lugar do ministro Teori Zavancki, no Supremo Tribunal Federal (STF): Ives Gandra Martins Filho.
O presidente da CNBB, o cardeal Sergio da Rocha, chegou a enviar uma carta para o presidente Michel Temer recomendando a indicação.
De acordo com a coluna Painel, da Folha de S. Paulo, os arcebispos de São Paulo, dom Odilo Scherer, e do Rio de Janeiro, dom Orani Tempesta, também manifestaram apoio ao jurista.
Para o cardeal Sergio da Rocha, Gandra Filho é “um referencial seguro para a interpretação e a aplicação da Constituição, assegurando os direitos fundamentais da pessoa humana”.
Ives Gandra Martins Filho é presidente do Tribunal Superior do Trabalho (TST) e foi alvo de polêmica, nas últimas semanas, por causa de frases polêmicas, de sua autoria, em um artigo que faz parte do livro “Tratado de Direito Constitucional” (2012).
Entre elas está a de que “a mulher deve obedecer e ser submissa ao marido”.
O jurista, no entanto, rebateu as informações. “Diante de notícias veiculadas pela imprensa, descontextualizando quatro parágrafos de obra jurídica de minha lavra, venho esclarecer não ter postura nem homofóbica, nem machista”, diz nota assinada por ele.
