O juiz federal Sergio Moro afirmou ser “lamentável” a condenação do ex-presidente Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva a nove anos e seis meses de prisão por corrupção passiva e lavagem de dinheiro, na sentença divulgada nesta quarta-feira (12) relativa ao caso do triplex.
De acordo com a coluna Radar On-Line, do site da revista Veja, o magistrado nega ainda sentir “satisfação pessoal” ao condenar o ex-presidente.
“Não importa o quão alto você esteja, a lei ainda está acima de você’”, diz trecho da sentença.
Apesar da condenação, o juiz Sergio Moro reconheceu o mérito do governo Lula no ‘fortalecimento dos mecanismos de controle, abrangendo a prevenção e repressão, do crime de corrupção”.
O juiz citou os investimentos feitos na Polícia Federal durante o primeiro mandato,o fortalecimento da Controladoria Geral da União e a preservação da independência do Ministério Público Federal mediante a escolha, para o cargo de Procurador Geral da República, de integrante da lista votada entre membros da instituição.
“É certo que não se trata de exclusiva iniciativa presidencial, já que o enfrentamento à corrupção é uma demanda decorrente do amadurecimento das democracias, mas o mérito da liderança política não pode ser ignorado”, disse o juiz na sentença.
Entretanto, Moro fez uma ressalva: “Não será ele o primeiro governante que subestimou a possibilidade de que o incremento dos meios de controle pudessem levar à descoberta de seus próprios crimes”.
