Historicamente, o Partido dos Trabalhadores sempre foi de esquerda ou centro esquerda. Desde 1980, que esse sempre foi o legado do Partido.Por essas bandas de Petrolina, parece que isso quer mudar. É que o partido, recentemente, filiou aos seus quadros, mais de 1.500 pessoas.
Segundo informações, essas filiações tem como alvo, a eleição do PED municipal, que é o Processo de Eleição Direta (PED) interna do PT, onde, duas figuras importantes lutam pela cabeça do partido na cidade: Odacy Amorim e Cristina Costa. A grande questão que está se falando nos bastidores em notas extra-oficiais, é que Cristina Costa, estaria abraçando o governo de Miguel Coelho, prefeito de Petrolina, e daí, surgiram diversas filiações dentro do partido vindas pela mão do prefeito.
Isso por que, professoras do Programa Nova Semente, Cargos de confiança, motoristas e até Assistentes de Serviços Gerais que são lotados na prefeitura, se filiaram ao partido. Cristina Costa precisa explicar como é que essas filiações aconteceram, e como dentro do partido que sempre foi de esquerda, agora, se aceita pessoas que nada tem a ver com a ideologia do partido.
É no minimo estranho, ver o partido que sempre lutou contra a burguesia e o capitalismo, se dobrar, pelas mãos de um dos seus membros aos caprichos dos coronéis da politica petrolinense, e tudo isso em detrimento da sede de poder.
